My garden really has become my little sanctuary, and I am really looking forward to spending even more time in it as the weather improves.

My Garden

In the early spring of 2022, I had my own garden landscaped. Click on the button below to find out more.

A garden of levels

This amazing garden is on multiple levels and my clients wanted a design for both front and back. It was a really interesting challenge and I am very pleased to say that my clients loved the designs!

A long garden in Wiltshire

This back garden was built during the winter. The picture shows the early stages of the build - the garden has been cleared and a lot of the hard landscaping removed.

Another long garden in Wiltshire!

Early summer and the build has started on this garden and it’s the neighbour of the one above. This is a family garden on two levels - the lower level will be an elegant space for relaxing and entertaining; the upper level will be a child friendly space for running about and making dens!

James Lewis of Maddison & Lewis Landscapes is building this garden, too.

A country garden in Somerset

This project was about reshaping the garden to reduce the amount of lawn, and give the clients colour and interest with the planting.

A wildlife friendly garden

This image shows the garden before any work has been started. I supplied the garden design drawings and planting design ideas, and my clients are doing most of the build themselves.

A long garden with a long drop

This incredible garden had so much potential but it was difficult to access and to manage. My clients were concerned that it would just be a wasted space because they didn’t know how or where to start.

A rejuvenated garden outside Bath.

We are part way through planting up the garden in this photo. I turned the unused kitchen garden into a secret courtyard, reshaped the existing borders and added more planting space. My client loves plants, so there is plenty of room for beautiful planting in her new garden!

A field in Somerset

My clients wanted a high level concept design for their new gardens. They are converting a barn and wanted to get ahead with ideas for the outside space.

A front garden full of flowers

This project was for a retired couple who wanted a front garden that was lower maintenance but still full of flowers. Just a year after the build and the garden is looking gorgeous. It’s also a gold medal winner, having come first in the town’s ‘In Bloom’ competition!

A new terrace

This terrace is part of a much larger garden and my client wanted a contemporary look with some traditional elements, more space and much less maintenance.

This is now a much used and loved part of the garden where family come and lounge, chat and enjoy the views!

My client was really pleased with the new terrace and so enjoyed the whole process that we worked together on the design of another part of the garden.

I felt I had the basic bones of a good garden but it was looking very tired and congested, and needed a coherent renovation. Frances was super easy to work with, quickly understood what I wanted, and produced a relaxed and sympathetic plan. Her minor structural revisions gave a fresh background to the new planting which started to work surprisingly quickly, and now, nearly a year on, the garden is bursting into life for its second season. I’m really happy with the transformation!

Country garden from scratch

This planting design was for a retired couple who now had the time to spend on their garden. Apart from the large lawn and a beautiful birch tree, it was a blank canvas.

My clients wanted a cottage garden - a pretty, though high maintenance style. As they were fairly new to gardening, I recommended a more country garden style. My design included more shrubs and perennials that required less maintenance. They agreed!

This image shows one of the borders I had just finished planting. The plants will grow and fill out the space and the Amelanchier provides additional height and interest.

A complete refresh

The brief for this garden started out as “Please sort it out! I don’t know what to do.” That’s not unusual. The garden was very overgrown but underneath it all was gorgeous old stone which just needed to see the light of day!
