Another long garden in Wiltshire!

The build on the second of the nextdoor neighbour gardens is finished. Clients, landscaper and garden designer are very pleased with the finished garden!

Beautiful steps and walls! They are a real feature in the garden, as well as being very practical for children and buggies.

Never too young to develop an interest in all things horticultural! Helping Mum plant the delicious thyme. Espalier apple trees are arriving in late autumn and will be planted against the wall.

The hard landscaping is finished. There’s now a hoggin path and a lawn in the upper garden. Just the planting to finish, which my clients are doing themselves. That gorgeous lawn in the lower garden is being used already. There’s nothing quite like real grass for playing on!

The hard landscaping in the lower garden is almost finished.

Look at that gorgeous dry stone wall curving round the circle of paving and the setts. Beautiful!

The lower garden is really taking shape. Look at those lovely curves in that beautiful paving! In the empty space will be a circle of lawn with planting to the left of the picture.

The footings are in for the steps and the curved wall.

You can already see that the steps are quite a feature, as well as being very practical. They also help to open up the garden, creating a feeling of space.

This is the black and white copy of my design for the back garden. There’s a circular seating area with a circle of lawn attached. There’s space for gorgeous planting, including espalier fruit trees. The new paving goes from the house to the new steps, which are wide and shallow, not only practical for small children, but beautiful, too.

All that ugly old paving has to come out! James has also removed those steps.

The garden before. The brief for the lower level was for a stylish space for entertaining and for the whole garden to be a lot more child friendly.

Steep and very narrow steps between the two levels.

My clients want a magical and enchanted space for the children.
