A field in Somerset

This project was about providing the creativity, ideas and knowledge for my clients who wanted a naturalistic, wildlife friendly garden. They wanted a high level design for the whole space. They loved the design, so then I focused on particular areas of the garden, getting more detailed.

Black and white version of the concept design.

This picture shows part of the field which will become my clients’ house and garden. The whole space is about an acre.

The colour rendered drawing and some of the information I prepared for clients - planting design ideas, soil and environment details.

Crataegus monogyna (hawthorn). This is for the long drive and is great for wildlife. It’s also surprisingly beautiful when you get up close!

Planting plan for the terrace. As this bed is quite close to the house, it’s a little more formal than the wilder areas, though still has a natural look. I’ve added some of my clients favourite roses.

I recommended a mixed native hedge (hawthorn, blackthorn, dog rose, field maple) for the garden boundary, with occasional native fruit trees for added interest and wildlife appeal.
