My client had a lot of potted plants so I used the ones that worked with the brief of a contemporary look with traditional elements, such as these box balls. Choosing pots of the right shape, size, colour and design makes all the difference.
To counterbalance the contemporary, there’s a riot of colour in the opposite corner. The Geum, Geranium and Euphorbias provide orange, red and mauve - some of my client’s favourite colours!
The new terrace provides the space my clients wanted, with a clean and uncluttered appearance. The paving has been cleaned and tidied so it looks like new. My clients invested in some gorgeous and very comfortable outdoor furniture. Having fewer plants placed around the terrace means they stand out more.
The old terrace was very high maintenance with so many pots and very little room to move.

My client enjoyed working with me on the terrace garden, so we collaborated on the next design. As the designer, my role was to clarify her thoughts, maintain the focus and be the editor when needed, so she got her beautiful and romantic garden.
I find collaborating with clients on the design and development of their gardens extremely satisfying. The feedback I receive indicates that it’s a successful approach!
