The planting is a combination of shrubs and perennials to give structure and year round interest in this fairly exposed front garden.
The beautiful peonies shown here were lifted from my clients’ back garden. I divided them and planted them throughout. Yes, you can divide and replant peonies - as long as you plant them correctly!
The new garden is a rectilinear design in keeping with the house. Bringing everything back to ground level immediately made the garden feel larger. There’s a balance between the hard and soft landscaping, and a lovely contrast between the cream of the paving and gravel and the colours of the planting.
The garden before - three raised borders surrounded by low, crumbling limestone walls and old concrete paths. There were also drainage issues near the house walls to be rectified.
Planting finished! All the plants are in and mulch added. Now they just have to grow.
